Monaco Yacht Charter in September: Weather, Monaco Yacht Show & What to Expect

Monaco

September is one of the best months for a Monaco yacht charter. The French Riviera remains warm, the Mediterranean is still comfortable for swimming, and the intense crowds of July and August begin to ease.

There is one major exception: Monaco Yacht Show week. Each September, Port Hercule becomes the centre of the international superyacht industry, bringing an entirely different atmosphere to the Principality.

If you are considering chartering a yacht in Monaco in September, the best time depends on whether you want a relaxed late-summer cruise or to experience Monaco during one of the world's most important yachting events.

What Is the Weather Like in Monaco in September?

September generally still feels like summer on the French Riviera.

Typical conditions remain warm and pleasant, with temperatures often around 18°C to 26°C, while Mediterranean water temperatures remain approximately 22°C to 24°C. This makes swimming, watersports, lunches at anchor, and long days on deck very comfortable.

The beginning of September is normally warmer than the end of the month, and the possibility of unsettled weather gradually increases as autumn approaches.

For yacht charter guests, however, September can provide an excellent balance between summer conditions and more comfortable temperatures ashore.

Is September Good for a Monaco Yacht Charter?

Yes. In many ways, September is one of the best times to charter a yacht in Monaco.

The sea is still warm, restaurants and beach clubs remain active, and destinations throughout the French Riviera are generally less crowded than during the July and August peak.

September is particularly attractive if you want to cruise between:

Monaco

Cap-Ferrat

Villefranche-sur-Mer

Nice

Antibes

Cannes

Îles de Lérins

Saint-Tropez

You can also cruise east from Monaco towards Menton and the Italian Riviera.

Are Yacht Charters Cheaper in September?

They can be.

Some yachts move away from peak-season pricing after August, although this varies by vessel and exact dates. September remains a highly desirable charter month, so significant discounts should not automatically be expected.

The major exception is Monaco Yacht Show week, when demand for yachts, accommodation, marina access, restaurants, transport, and other services around Monaco can increase substantially.

If value and quieter cruising are priorities, earlier or mid-September can be particularly attractive.

What Is the Monaco Yacht Show?

The Monaco Yacht Show is one of the most important annual events in the global superyacht industry.

Held at Port Hercule, it brings together superyachts, shipyards, yacht designers, brokers, builders, equipment manufacturers, owners, buyers, and other industry professionals.

In 2026, the Monaco Yacht Show takes place from September 23 to 26 at Port Hercule, with around 120 superyachts expected to be displayed.

For anyone seriously interested in superyachts, few weeks offer a better reason to be in Monaco.

Should You Charter During Monaco Yacht Show Week?

That depends entirely on the experience you want.

Chartering during the Monaco Yacht Show can be exceptional if you are attending the event, meeting yacht brokers or builders, or simply want to experience Monaco at its most active.

However, it is not the best week for everyone.

Expect Monaco to be significantly busier, with increased demand for berths, restaurants, hotels, transfers, and other premium services.

If your priority is peaceful cruising rather than the event itself, consider scheduling your charter before or after Yacht Show week.

What Is Monaco Like in Early September?

Early September is ideal for guests who still want a traditional summer yacht charter.

Days remain warm, the water retains much of its summer heat, and the French Riviera is noticeably calmer after the August holiday rush.

You can spend your days swimming around Cap-Ferrat, cruising towards Cannes, enjoying lunch at anchor near the Îles de Lérins, or heading west towards Saint-Tropez.

For many charter guests, this is the sweet spot of the month.

What Should You Pack for a September Yacht Charter?

Pack primarily for warm Mediterranean weather, but bring a few additional layers compared with July or August.

Light summer clothing, swimwear, sunglasses, sun protection, and suitable footwear will cover most days. A light jacket or sweater is useful for evenings and cooler conditions later in the month.

September weather can also be less predictable than midsummer, so having a lightweight waterproof layer is sensible.

How Far in Advance Should You Book?

For a standard September Monaco yacht charter, booking several months ahead will provide a much wider selection of yachts.

If your dates coincide with the Monaco Yacht Show, book considerably earlier. The event creates unusually high demand in Monaco and across the surrounding French Riviera.

Guests requiring a particular yacht, berth, hotel, restaurant reservation, or event-related arrangement should plan as early as possible.

Is September the Best Time to Charter a Yacht in Monaco?

For many guests, yes.

Choose early September if you want warm weather, swimming, fewer peak-season crowds, and a classic French Riviera yacht charter.

Choose late September during Monaco Yacht Show week if you want to combine your charter with one of the biggest events in the international superyacht calendar.

September gives you something that few other months can offer: excellent late-summer cruising combined with the opportunity to experience Monaco at the centre of the global yachting world.
